Aims & Objectives
When the project went through it’s six month development programme, we set out a series of aims and objectives that would enable us to effectively continue the project until 2010. They are:
- Acting as a link between communities and local government as well as other statutory and voluntary bodies.
- Assisting in the improvement of existing mental health services by addressing inequalities and making services more approachable and appropriate to diverse African and African Caribbean Communities.
- Researching needs and problems with the communities.
- Developing new community-based Mental Health Services and resources.
- Evaluating and monitoring existing Mental Health Services.
- Helping to raise public awareness on mental Health issues relevant to these communities.
- Liaising with interested groups and individuals to set up new Mental Health Services reflective and of the needs for the BME Communities.
- Sign-posting people to information, resources and sources of funding so that local residents can take action to meet their own needs.
