Aims & Objectives

When the project went through it’s six month development programme, we set out a series of aims and objectives that would enable us to effectively continue the project until 2010. They are:

  1. Acting as a link between communities and local government as well as other statutory and voluntary bodies.
  2. Assisting in the improvement of existing mental health services by addressing inequalities and making services more approachable and appropriate to diverse African and African Caribbean Communities.
  3. Researching needs and problems with the communities.
  4. Developing new community-based Mental Health Services and resources.
  5. Evaluating and monitoring existing Mental Health Services.
  6. Helping to raise public awareness on mental Health issues relevant to these communities.
  7. Liaising with interested groups and individuals to set up new Mental Health Services reflective and of the needs for the BME Communities.
  8. Sign-posting people to information, resources and sources of funding so that local residents can take action to meet their own needs.
